Welcome 2022...
On New Year’s Eve, as I lit candles, pulled tarot cards, and waited for the ball to drop, I reflected on 2021. While it was a raging dumpster fire for so many reasons, personally, it was not half bad.
Dave and I added to our little family. We rescued a one-eyed kitten (hoarding situation infection) so she can grow up in a house full of love and snuggles. Miss Fiona Beans is getting bigger, adjusting to her new environment, and picking up all her older brother’s bad habits.

My uterus was finally evicted after more than a decade of my pain being ignored and dismissed. The best decision of my entire life - possibly tied with my spinal fusion - because I am the most pain-free I have been in over twenty years.
My marriage continues to be full of support, laughter, and love. We found peace during a global pandemic and grew separately and together. Dave even became my Saturday morning support - stepping in to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently.
This is us.
Kismet turned four and I only had one (or two) brief moments where I thought it was not going to survive. The business hit goals that were only dreams and kept going. I put all my blood, sweat, and tears into the business this year.
The word for 2021 was GROWTH. While I had an idea of what I wanted that to mean, the reality far outlived my expectations.
Personally, I started to address some of my inner demons. I accepted help from professionals and found a small cocktail of meds that keep me steady, functioning, and out of the darkness of depression.
I let go of some of my control issues so I could heal after my hysterectomy. While there is never a good time to schedule a major surgery, Meg and Stephanie took over and kept Kismet running so I could heal and not freak out.

Kismet literally grew in size by knocking down walls next door which allowed us to create a new community space.
Our small business collaborations grew. I am extremely proud that my little business is able to support so many female-owned, queer-owned, and BIPOC-owned businesses. And I am thankful so many people purchased these items.
Our treatment numbers grew meaning we helped many more patients in 2021. 1,552 treatments done this year!
Our offerings to the community grew:
The Full Moon Reiki Sound Bath with Jo-Anne is back on Saturday, January 15th at 2 pm.
Mindfulness Meditation with Jaime returns Wednesday, January 19th at 7 pm.
Yin + Pin at Terrace Plant Shop with Chia will be on Saturday, January 22nd at 6:30 pm
Nidra + Pins with Jaime and me will be Sunday, January 23rd at 1 pm.
and more will most certainly be added to the schedule soon.
Our plant collection grew - shocking, I know.
Our online apothecary sales grew - shipping our favorite products to thirty-three different states in 2021.
The only growth I did not appreciate were my estimated taxes. I thought about that dick-shaped rocket in space every time I hit the pay button on the IRS website.

This year, my word is FOCUS.
Again, I have an idea of what I want it to mean but look forward to the final results.
I do not do New Year’s resolutions but I do set intentions and goals.
Here’s to growing the business, hitting new goals, helping more people heal, and enjoying the life I’ve been given.
