Katie Us, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac.

Hi.  My name is Katie, and I am the owner of this fine establishment.

I have bright pink hair and a lot of tattoos.  I consider myself a little punk rock, a little bit rock-n-roll, a little glam, a little goth, and a little pop.  I’m a Cancer, Libra rising, and my moon is in Pisces, whatever that all means.  I worship at the altar of David Bowie and find myself most at peace in nature.

My dream job is actually to be Ben Carr from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (he’s the guy that dances on stage and occasionally sings back up vocals).  Since that position is currently filled, I am working hard at running my acupuncture business.

I would love to tell you a story about how acupuncture saved my life when I was young or how I found it when Western medicine failed me or how I studied some form of medicine in college, but that’s not how my journey started.  Eleven years ago, I did not even know what acupuncture or Chinese medicine was.  I had graduated a few years before with a degree in American Studies and English; I was managing a chiropractic office and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.  I knew I was not suited for a life in a cubicle and that I had issues with authority and people telling me what to do.  Then, one day, my boss’ acupuncturist came to the office to barter with her.  She asked if I was interested in trying it, and I thought I didn’t have anything to lose.  Like most of you, I don’t like needles but did it anyway.  When I got off the table thirty minutes later, it was like a switch had flipped inside me.  I felt light and happy.  Within a few hours of feeling this way, I knew I had found my calling.

I started grad school a couple of months later in May 2009.

Maybe acupuncture did save my life?

Since I received my license in 2014, I have worked in a few offices, but again, I don’t like people telling me what to do.  Kismet opened in 2017 because if someone is going to boss me around, then it should probably be me.  Don’t tell my boss, but she can be tough.  Kismet is a cozy, intimate acupuncture practice.  I believe in creating partnerships with my patients.  We work together to make you feel better – acupuncture treatments, Chinese herbs, dietary advice, cupping, gua sha, self-care items from my apothecary, are all a part of my process to encourage your body to heal.

Do you have an old football injury?
Did you pull a muscle at the gym this morning?
Have you been trying to get pregnant?
Is your period painful and irregular?
Is your anxiety overwhelming?
Are your stress levels off the charts?
Do you have seasonal allergies?
Are you interested in safe, effective, and holistic health and well-being?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, guess what?  I can help you; Traditional Chinese Medicine can help you.  And if you want to see the studies, I can show them to you.  Let’s talk about how I can kickstart your body’s innate healing ability.

I am looking forward to it.

I did an interview!

Check it out and let me know what you think:

“Other people will call me a rebel, but I just feel like I’m living my life and doing what I want to do.  Sometimes people call that rebellion, especially when you’re a woman.”
